Rebounding
Box-Out Battle
Physical competition to instil box-out habits and aggressive rebounding.
Setup
Pairs — 1 offensive, 1 defensive — in the paint. Coach shoots from various spots.
Instructions
- On the shot, defender finds their player and boxes out.
- Offensive player tries to get the rebound.
- Whoever gets the rebound wins the rep.
- If defender boxes out successfully for 3 seconds = defender wins even without rebound.
Coaching Points
✓ Find your player first, then find the ball.
✓ Rear contact — sit into them, not beside.
✓ Stay with the box-out until ball is secured.
