What This Drill Improves
This basketball drill is best for intermediate players who need focused work on transition. It works well with 9 players and can be adjusted by changing the space, pressure, or scoring rules.
Setup
2 attackers + 1 defender at one end. On score or stop, becomes 3v2 going the other way.
Instructions
Coach starts 2v1 going to far basket.
If attackers score, the 2 become defenders. A third player sprints to join attackers.
Rotate new players in from the side each rep.
Coaching Points
✓ 2v1 — pass early, attack the gap.
✓ 3v2 — middle player controls pace, wings stretch the defence.
✓ Defence: stop the ball first, protect the basket second.
