Attack Approach & Arm Swing
Hitters practise the four-step approach and explosive arm swing for consistent attacking.
Setup
Setter at position 2. Hitters queue at position 4 (left) and position 2 (right).
Instructions
- Setter gives a high outside set.
- Hitter approaches: right-left-right-left (for right-handers).
- Jump off both feet, swing arm from high to low.
- Land and recover to the back of the line. 10 reps each side.
Coaching Points
✓ Start slow, finish fast — accelerate through the last two steps.
✓ Elbow high on the wind-up — contact above the head.
✓ Snap wrist for topspin, not flat contact.
Progressions
→ Setter varies sets — quick, high, wide.
→ Hitter calls shot direction before swinging.
→ Add a block (passive then active).
