Setup

Phase 1: static pad. Phase 2: moving pad. Phase 3: partner at jogging speed.

Instructions

  1. Phase 1: Approach pad, cheek-to-cheek contact, drive through.
  2. Phase 2: Repeat with pad carrier walking laterally.
  3. Phase 3: Live tackle at jogging pace — must drive and secure.
  4. No full-pace tackling without full supervision.

Coaching Points

✓ Head to the side — always. No head-on contact.
✓ Tackle through the hips, not the legs.
✓ Drive with the legs after contact.

Progressions

→ Add a ball — carrier passes before tackle.
→ Tackle and compete for ball on floor.
→ 2v1 — tackler releases quickly for support.
