Defensive Slide Circuit
Footwork drill to build lateral quickness and proper defensive stance.
Setup
Cones set in a zigzag pattern across the lane.
Instructions
- Player starts in defensive stance at first cone.
- Lateral slide to each cone without crossing feet.
- At each cone, change direction without standing up.
- Touch the floor at each cone. Sprint to end, jog back.
Coaching Points
✓ Stay low — hips below knees.
✓ Lead with the foot in the direction of travel.
✓ Never let feet come together.
Progressions
→ Partner mirrors the slide (shadowing).
→ Add a ball — slide while dribbling.
→ Timed: beat 10 seconds for the full circuit.
