Setup

Normal singles court and scoring. Both players on baselines.

Instructions

  1. Rally begins crosscourt. After 4 balls, either player can go down the line.
  2. If you go DTL, you must hold the down-the-line rally for 2 shots.
  3. Regular scoring. Play to 6 games.
  4. Track how many DTLs you attempted and won.

Coaching Points

✓ Set up the DTL — don't go DTL from a defensive position.
✓ Open the court crosscourt, then DTL.
✓ DTL with margin — don't aim too close to the line early.

Progressions

→ 3 crosscourt balls before DTL is allowed.
→ DTL attempt scores a bonus point if it lands in.
→ Both players are restricted to DTL only.
